# Gridfinity archive |
I dealt with all the terrible 3d printing model sites (all terrible except Printables, |
Printables is actually pretty good) so you don't have to! |
Here is my archive of sort-of organised Gridfinity STLs and OpenSCAD scripts with maybe some gcode thrown in |
if i forget to remove it |
## Tips |
I use the Dovetail base plates, not for the connectors but mainly just because they use less material than the |
default minimal base plates. The connectors are pretty handy, though. |
I have a specific printer profile I use just for printing gridfinity stuff. I use the lowest quality and crank the |
speed as high as the extrusion rate will allow. Almost all gridfinity models are quite forgiving both to print |
and to use, so quality does not matter as much as most other prints. Some models though I have to dial the speed |
back or I get failures |
Do not bother with more than 4 compartments per 2 blocks, for example the `Window Bin x5 - 1x2x6`. Perhaps this form |
in a shorter bin would be more practical but you simply cannot easily get your fingers in the tiny compartments of a bin |
with more than 4 compartments per 2 blocks. |
Print big bins! You will want to print a bunch of teeny bins starting out. There is barely anything you can actually fit in |
these. I have a bunch of 3 unit tall bins with teeny compartments that I don't know what to do with now. Most of my stuff |
fits in non-divided large bins, most of the rest in divided 6 unit tall bins |
